Maya

Brahman's Maya is enzymatic  between the substrate and substance, substrate being the Prakrti and the substance being the manifested Universe.  This enzymatic Maya works both ways. Through the power of maya, God manifests as many.   Maya is not the cause of this universe but  a pluripotential multifunctional enzyme system. This enzyme system facilitates diversity in the manifestations.  When the enzyme system is disabled or shut down, the multiplicity of the manifestations ceases to exist. This  maya on account of its shut-down is called avidya / ignorance. Avidya is a spent force or an ineffectual enzyme system afflicting the individual, a god's manifestation.  The magic touch of Maya is gone and its waste / spent  product namely Avidya renders the individual to disconnect from God ( for lack of divine Maya force), make them feel independent from God  and become burdened with bondage.  Maya serves as a glue that binds the soul with Brahman. The degradation product of maya, namely avidya does not bind the individual soul with Brahman and therefore the individual is unhinged or unstuck from Brahman. According to Vallabha, the manifested world is not an illusion as viewed by Sankara.
